West Virginia County Map – Virginia is the southeastern region of the country. It was one of thirteen colonies that later became the United States. It is bordered to North and Northeast by Maryland and the District of Columbia, North and East by Tennessee, North Carolina, and South by the Atlantic Ocean to both the south and east, and West Virginia to the southwest. Virginia’s original boundaries also included West Virginia. West Virginia became a member of the Union in 1863. The boundary of the state with the District of Columbia has never been established.
